Dark Day at TNL

Life sometimes likes to give you a good swift kick in the crotch and Wednesday was just such a time. After ranting on like an idiot in my Barbaro post in which I said the following:

I love animals and will miss my dog when she’s gone but if people sent millions of dollars to help Brandi the Wonderdog, I would be ashamed and so should the arrogant sport of horse racing.
Well that day came as Brandi the Wonderdog died of a heart attack Wednesday morning at the ripe old age of 9 (very old for her breed). Brandi put the Great in Great Dane and it does my heart good knowing that the last year of her life was spent making Lee Corso look like the ass he is in our Dogs vs. Experts challenge. Brandi was my best friend for 9 years and she will be missed. Posting will probably be light for a little while as I put myself into an alcohol-induced coma, but I’ll be back next week.

1997 - 2007

P.S. If you would like to send $1.2 million dollars to the Brandi Fund like people did to the Barbaro Fund, e-mail me and I’ll send you the address to send the check to. Unlike the Barbaro Fund which was dedicated to buying equipment for the horse, the Brandi Fund is committed to making me rich and happy.

I'm sorry Galen. Her picks were a pleasure to read. Thanks for introducing her to the rest of us.

I'm sorry to hear about Brandi, Galen. She truly was a Wonderdog. At least she lived a full life.

Thank you all I really appreciate it. Brandi WAS a part of our family and it won't be the same without her. It was sheer dumb luck that I picked such a special dog. I have no regrets.

My condolences. A good dog really can be your best friend.

Oh, no! I'm so sorry to hear about this, Galen.

Been through that with a sweet little mutt named (of course) Nittany. I've only had my new pups for a year, and I'm hopelessly attached to them.

Here's hoping another four legged friend will eventually walk into your life.

So sorry to hear about Brandi. I'm sure that she'll still be making stellar football picks from puppydog heaven, just as I know my little Stefan is up there barking at Christmas trees and chasing tennis balls.
