Blogpoll: The Granddaddy of them All

Congratulations Penn State fans, you can make plans to Pasadena. This weekend had few upsets of consequence and so it's a likely Rose Bowl date with the USC Trojans. Thankfully, the media already played the game for us and dramatized our fate in slow, burning glory. Woo!

The big debate of the week is Texas or Oklahoma for the Big 12 Championship berth. This isn't a debate, at least not in the intellectual sense, because Texas Tech was completely dismissed from the discussion in the three-way tie. It then became a no-brainer and Texas is getting the opportunity for the Big 12 crown thanks to their head-to-head victory over Oklahoma, only they're not and the Sooners instead got the nod. Let's clear the air and get it out of the way that conference championship games are a shameless money grab and hinder more than they possibly help. It was brought up earlier in the season that Penn State was gonna be hurt by their lack of a championship game. Really? Why is that? What were they gonna prove playing Ohio State again on a neutral field that they didn't prove when then won in Columbus? (On a side note, Billingsley - your computer formula is fucking worthless for STILL ranking Ohio State ahead of Penn State.) For those of you that think we're anywhere near a playoff, take a look and see that what you proved on the field doesn't matter because it's all completely ignored in the end anyway, I can tell the powers that be would do a bang up job of instituting a playoff. Thanks to the Big 12 and your dumbass tie breaking process and let me congratulate the winner of the Big 12 Championship Game, you earned the title of best team to lose to Texas, you should be very proud.

Dropped Out: Florida State (#25).

Moving Up:
Ohio State - No reason other than I've been watching Ball State games the last several weeks and frankly I still have them rated too high, sorry MAC fans.

Moving Down:
Georgia/Oregon State - Wow, I really dropped them for losses, more than I should have. Conversely, Missouri didn't drop enough and I need to rectify that.
