Turnpike series

Marian Hossa dispatched the New York Rangers in overtime yesterday and Philadelphia took care of Montreal Saturday setting up an all Pennsylvania Eastern Conference finals. Sure a trip to the Stanley Cup finals is at stake but there's so much more to this series. It gets down to the root of what PA sports is all about, it's Philly vs. Pittsburgh; neighbor vs. neighbor; brother vs. brother. While I'm a diehard Pens fan I openly rooted for Philly to make it to this point and my Flyers friends returned the favor and rooted for the Pens as if they were their own team. Now...

it....

is....

ON!

Even if you're not a hockey fan I highly suggest you watch this series, these two teams have developed a deep seeded hatred for one another. The regular season series was filled with fights and overall animosity, add the playoffs and... well... it's not for the faint of heart. Let me put it to you this way, there will be blood. If I don't end up in a fight with one of my Flyer friends I will be surprised. It's going to be a fun ride.

Go Pens!!

Crosby sucks! Also, he cheats, he takes dives and he's a sissy. He should be called Cindy Crosby.

I hope he trips on his own skates, Steve Downie pounds him into next week, the jumbotron falls on him, and his mom tells him she never really liked him.

Go Flyers!

(How's that for a start?)

That's what I'm talking about, feel the hate! I hope Laraque pounds Umberger in the face on the drop of the first puck. Crosby hasn't scored in a while I'm sensing hat trick game 1.

Screw you both, everyone knows there's only one true hockey team and it was the Hartford Whalers. Cue up the Brass Bonanza, bitches.

I'll second billybob's first two paragraphs.

As a Caps fan, are you the pot or the kettle WFY? What's your opinion of Ovechkin?

WFY said...

Hmmm, I'm the spoon that stirs that kettle?

Ovechkin is spectacular.

I love Brass Bonanza too. It seems like I can't go to a Caps game without seeing at least one Whalers jersey too.

My argument is people who root for Crosby or Ovechkin have no right throwing stones at the other player.

I've begrudgingly moved on to cheering for Carolina, but those 2 finals appearances and 1 Stanley Cup rightfully belong to Hartford. I had my hopes up when Pittsburgh was playing chicken regarding an arena that they'd move to Hartford and I could finally buy a brand new Whalers jersey. Unless I'm buying it as a collector and not to wear, I would feel weird buying a Hartford jersey off eBay. Have to settle for WolfPack gear.

That's right. They're both jerkoffs.

Crosby was forced down every hockey fan's throat as the face of the NHL before he even played a game. The practice has continued, so combine that with the NHL's fascination with the Pengyunz and Crosby becomes easy to hate.

Ovechkin is right there with Crosby in terms of overexposure and needless promotion. WTF? Why the hell would I want to watch an Ovech-cam during a game?

The NHL just about lost everything from the lockout years and is just recovering. Sidney Crosby brought new hope to a league with no real "Micheal Jordan" superstar. Is he overexposed? Sure but he's also going to bring people in. He sure was great for Pittsburgh a town that was ready to give up on its franchise.
