Road Trip!

If ever there was a time to jump in the car and take a long ride it's now. 11 U.S. locations have turned their 7-Eleven's into Kwik-E-Marts – the fictional convenience store from the Simpsons.

Unfortunately there are none in Pennsylvania. The U.S. locations where a 7-Eleven store was transformed into a Kwik-E-Mart are New York City; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Burbank, Calif.; Los Angeles; Henderson, Nev.; Orlando, Fla.; Mountain View, Calif.; Seattle; and Bladensburg, Md.

Those stores and most of the 6,000-plus other 7-Elevens in North America will sell items that until now existed only on television: Buzz Cola, KrustyO's cereal and Squishees, the slushy drink knockoff of Slurpees.

In some cases, 7-Eleven has contracted with manufacturers of similar products to make their Kwik-E-Mart counterparts. Malt-O-Meal, the Northfield, Minn., cereal maker, will conjure up a recipe for KrustyO's, for example.

If a concerned TNL reader living in one of those cities would be willing to send me a box of KrustyO's I would be forever grateful. You would have a special place in the annals of this little blog. Of course, this all started as a brilliant marketing campaign for the upcoming "The Simpsons Movie." If you live in one of these areas stop by and have a Squishee on me.

If I read that excerpt right, you should be able to get Krusty O's even at a 7-11 that isn't dressed up. Honestly I won't be surprised if some of these products find their way into regular production.

And 7-11? Seems like a miscasting to me. They needed to go for something a little lower rent, say a Uni-Mart (are those still in State College?) I had a roommate who lived for 4 years on daily servings of 2 for a dollar "uni-dogs". God I hope he's getting regular colonoscopies.

Yep, Uni-Mart is still alive and kicking. There's one a block from my house. The way I read it the Squishees and such will be at every 7-11 but I'm not sure about KrustyO's. You know I'm gonna check though.

We've come up with a camera so tiny it fits into this oversized novelty hat. Now, go get us some incriminating footage, and remember: you have to get in and out in ten minutes, or you'll suffer permanent neck damage.

Don't be alarmed, Apu. Just go about your daily routine like I'm not wearing the hat.

Your headgear seems to be emitting a buzzing noise, sir. Perhaps you have a bee in your bonnet?

Bee? Aah!

Wait, Denver? I have six days to find this thing.

It's on, bitches.

I think I finally found someone that watches the Simpsons more then me and I didn't think that was possible.

I will be highly disappointed if you don't hit the Kwik-e-mart before leaving Denver.

I do love The Simpsons, if I ever get the motivation to do a blog, it'll be a common theme with some PSU football mixed in.

Worthless pop culture references and PSU are my milieu

If your interested in writing I am looking for other writers for this blog (I'm the only writer and it's tough) and it sounds like you fit the bill (simpsons & PSU pretty much qualifies you). If you are interested e-mail me.

Sadly, I didn't check your RSS feed before I left Monday for Florida, but I did stop by the Kwik-E-Mart in Orlando - it's about 1/4 mile down the street from Disney World and I-4. No Krusty-O boxes made it home on the plane (damn FAA regulations; I bet those things would somehow have qualified as gels), but I did have a Squishy, and I retroactively dedicate it to you.

They had lifesize plastic Simpsons character cutouts, some purple donuts, and a lot of goofy signs, but other than that, it was just your regular (although rather busy) 7-11.

Well if they made Krusty-O's properly they would have been deemed a deadly weapon and confiscated by the FAA.

It's not really Krusty O's unless it has Free Inside! One Jagged Metal Krusty-O! That's what makes it so delicious or maybe its the flesh-eating bacteria.
