Blog Chips

-BCS coordinator and SEC commissioner Mike Slive said Monday he was "very, very open-minded about a plus-one" 4 team playoff but don’t expect any changes until at least 2010 – that’s when Fox's four-year $320 million TV deal ends.

-Pete Carroll is staying at USC… or maybe not. Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga is putting on the full court press and even initiated contact with Carroll while he was vacationing in Costa Rica over the weekend. Carroll denies any serious thoughts of leaving saying "I absolutely expect to be here," and “I'm thrilled to be here." But then Carroll goes on to say the following… "It was a major statement he made finding me out [at Costa Rica]." Furthermore, Pete comments about the situation Huizenga has set up for the next Dolphins head coach – “Here's a situation where a guy would give a head coach the opportunity to do anything he wanted to do. He's an awesome guy." AWESOME, dude! Stay tuned.

-Fallout from the BCS Championship game continues around the internets but the best quip from a blogger goes to Paul Westerdawg from Georgia Sports Blog:
Shouldn't Troy Smith be required to return this Heisman? If Vanessa Williams had to return her Miss America crown for posing nude, shouldn't Smith have to give his trophy back for getting on his knees and blowing the game?
Well played Paul – you should receive TNL imagination money in your e-mail anytime soon.

-Finally a hearty ‘at-a-boy’ to Mike from Black Shoe Diaries for hosting his Bowl Pick ‘Em challenge. Yours truly was in the lead right up till Florida crushed the Buckeyes AND my chances at winning the whole damn thing. That’s the last time I bet on THEosu.

Mike – I’d send you some TNL imagination money as well, but I’m virtually printing the stuff so fast that the virtual ink hasn’t dried yet.
