Blue & White Roundtable

It’s Wednesday that means it’s Penn State roundtable day and Mike from BSD has the questions for this week.

Alright, first off, which one of you guys is sending death threats to Anthony Morelli?

It’s my fault I was trying to send a death threat to Jay Paterno but these internets aren’t a highway with easy off ramps, ya know… they are a series of tubes that get clogged up by personal mails and my threat got to Morelli instead of Jay.

What is your reaction to comments Morelli made about his former high school football coach? Does this help or hurt his situation?

Anger part – perfectly fine, he has every right to be angry and fire back but the cocky “I have all the records - he’ll never get my records” comments about the current high school QB that replaced him just looks bad. I understand that Anthony has been taking a lot of heat but there’s really no reason for these comments at this time. Hopefully Joe has a sit down and can reassure him because this seems to stem from a lack of confidence.

Enough with the negative crap. We have a bowl game to talk about. With three weeks of practice, many second and third stringers are getting extra reps. Give me the name of a player that will have a breakout game in the Outback Bowl ala Kerry Collins in 1993.

Andrew Quarless. I think Penn State has started to go to the freshman more and more and when they need to throw they are going to look his way first if the last three games are a harbinger. I doubt he will have a Kerry Collins type game, but I think he will establish himself as a serious threat over the middle.

Let’s talk recruiting for a moment. The Lions have focused heavily on getting linebackers and offensive linemen this year. They have also landed some wide receivers and tight ends. They probably have 3 or 4 scholarships left to give. Which positions should they focus on and do you have any favorite high school players in mind?

I don’t follow the high school players enough to have one in mind but I think they should still focus on the line; they obviously need all the help they can get there. They also need a running back pretty bad but I think McCoy will end up at Penn State before it’s all said and done.

Mitchell, Cappelletti, Warner, Dozier, Thomas, Carter, Enis, Johnson, and Hunt. Will the next great Penn State running back be on the 2007 roster?

No. Austin Scott will have a great year running the ball but he won’t be the type of warrior that Hunt was. As for the rest, I doubt you are going to see any of these guys have careers like any of the above.

Finish this sentence: You know you’re a Tennessee redneck if…

this is your idea of the family car....

Ok time for the lightning round Jim Cramer style. BOOYAH! Buy or Sell?

I just threw my chair to get into the mood…

Anthony Morelli?

BUY! – he can’t get worse can he? His stock will have to be on the rise.

Derrick Williams?

Sell – it’s time to admit that this fund will never reach it’s lofty potential.

LeSean McCoy?

Buy – I think he’s coming to Penn State and will be a four-year starter after a redshirt.

Tickets to next season’s Rose Bowl?

BUY! – you can always sell them to USC fans for an inflated price.

That’s it for this week; feel free to leave your thoughts in the comment section below (don’t let Coach be the only one). Head on over to Black Shoe Diaries and Run Up The Score to get their answers as well.
