Mack Brown hates new clock rules

The list of critics of the new clock rules continues to grow as Texas coach Mack Brown throws in his two cents.
"They scored with six minutes left and the game was over before we had a chance to do anything," Brown said. "I really hope whoever made these changes will go back and look them over. …That's not fair to our fans… I hate it”

Brown said that at the very least they should revert back to the old rules for the end of the game. One of the byproducts of the new rules is the loss of a timeout, essentially. If a team is behind and needs to stop the clock, late in a game, they must burn a timeout following the kickoff because the clock runs after a change of possession. It’s a double whammy, you lose time because the clock runs on the kickoff and then you have to burn a timeout to stop the clock. Now I do realize that Brown may have been overly pessimistic given he was just coming off a loss, but I’ll bet he pretty much feels the same way when he has time to reflect. The new rules suck.

Mack Brown blaming the clock rules for his loss is like Nittany Lion fans blaming the refs for last week's blowout. Even if it had a little to do with the outcome, who is anybody kidding?
