Blog Chips

-Last season Northwestern chose to try and outscore it’s opponents as they were one of the worst defenses in the nation finishing near the bottom in almost every category. Even with the Swiss-cheese-like defense they came within a 4th and long of beating Penn State. Did you know fact of the day – Northwestern is 27th in total defense after 4 games, just two spots back of the Nittany Lions. Need proof: here it is.

-Northwestern freshman quarterback Mike Kafka has started all four games but may not be able to go against Penn State thanks to a leg injury suffered during their loss to Nevada. It appears to be a game time decision.

-If you would like a good preview of Penn State – Northwestern hop on over to Black Shoe Diaries, Mike has done a fine job as always. Me, I’m too lazy.

Twins watch:
With the possibility of Penn State getting an unscheduled off week, next week before the Michigan game we will keep an eye on the Twins. Remember if the Twins get the wild card and not the division they will play next Saturday, postponing the Penn State-Minnesota game.

Division
Detroit (95 – 63)
Minnestoa (94 – 64) 1.0 GB -4 games to go

Wild Card
Twins up 6.5 games
*the loser of the division is guaranteed the wild card
