Morning notes

Penn State has announced that they will be launching a football-only Web site, gopsf.com, on Aug. 25. Here's hoping they do a better job then goPSUsports.com does.

PSU Quarterback Anthony Morelli is tired of the comparisons to Terry Bradshaw, as in good talent but dumb as a stick.

"I get tired of it, but it doesn't bother me anymore," Morelli said. "If anything, I just can't wait to get out on the field and prove people wrong. I've been hearing that since I was in high school. Whoever started that, it doesn't matter to me. It's always been around. I don't know if it was people from high school or what. It doesn't matter. I'm the quarterback at Penn State now. I just want to help my team win games."

What does QB coach Jay Paterno have to say about it?
"I've told people the only reason he's gotten that rap is because he's Italian. And I resent that," Paterno said, joking. "People have asked me that question, and it's one of those things that has no basis of truth."
Gotta love that Paterno charm.

If Morelli gets the Rocky Balboa comparison, then Matt Leinhart is none other than Jeff Spiccolli. Plus, when the hell have we as fans ever demanded our QBs to be astrophysicists.

I'm sick of this message board crap. How smart does he have to be to read a blitz or notice the safety is playing man-to-man? As long as he stays acedemically eligible he's smart enough for me.

If it were only message board fodder, I wouldn't give a crap but major sports journalists are writing about this. I don't know where it all started either. It would be real interesting to see his GPA, because he's definitely academically eligible.
