Blog Chips

-BSD has a link to part one of a series of good articles explaining Penn State’s trials and tribulations in joining the Big Ten. It’s a good read, especially for those of you that weren’t around during them their times.

-Here’s an interesting article about Larry Johnson Sr. and the lack of recruiting in the Wilkes-Barre Scranton area. It also touches on the difficulty of opposing coaches trying to recruit LJ Sr.’s two boys back in the 1990’s:

Just imagine being the poor guys from those other schools, walking into Larry Johnson Sr.’s home in State College back in the late 1990s to try to chat up their respective schools with blue-chip prospects like his sons — running back Larry Johnson and, the next year, wide receiver Tony Johnson.

Imagine, that poor guy, talking to a potential star with Larry Sr. staring at him from the recliner. Knowing all the rules, all the ins and outs, watching his counterpart squirm, maybe taking notes.
- Let me end with a fair warning for the week: expect very light blogging as the Memorial day weekend approaches and I’m in charge of two (count ‘em - two) picnics. Needless to say, preparations will be time consuming. Throw in the fact that it’s the Season Finale for many of my favorite shows this week and well… you won’t get to see all the mindless drivel I spew on a daily basis. Fear not, I promise to bring you our weekly Blue & White Roundtable on Wednesday and I’ll try to cover any breaking news we might come across.

Oh great. You promised a Blue White Roundtable. I guess that means I have to come up with some questions. Wouldn't want you to break your promise.
