Blue and White Roundtable

Hey-Hey kids – it's Wednesday, do you know what that means?!?! It's Blue & White roundtable time. Sideshow Mike from BSD has the questions this week and you'll be seeing a great new Itchy and Scratchy clip along the way.

Charges are expected to be filed later this week in the player brawl from over a week ago. Assuming what we've heard is true, that a bunch of football players barged into an apartment uninvited and assaulted people, what would you consider to be an appropriate punishment?

I'm not sure what you would give those involved because there really hasn't been a precedent set as far as I can remember – someone correct me if I'm wrong. I would certainly hope JoePa moves them to the scout team and suspends them for one or two games. Suspending any starters involved for the Notre Dame game would certainly send a loud and clear message but what do you do with backups? I guess putting them on the scout team and making them work back up to their current spot on the depth chart would be punishment enough. Of course I would make them pay for any damage they may have caused and they would be on a zero tolerance policy for the rest of the year.

There is a rumor floating around that Josh Gaines has been demoted for breaking a team rule and Aaron Maybin is the new starter at defensive end. On a scale of one to ten with one being equivalent to dying at the hands of a thousand hermit crabs eating you alive and ten being a one night stand with Selma Hayek, where would this rank if true?

Wow, our scale has some big steps in it so I'll go with 7. I'm not a big Josh Gaines fan and I love the potential of Aaron Maybin so in my mind it's a great thing. Gaines is by no means a force on the D line and giving Maybin a chance to get experience in only his redshirt freshman year is always a good thing. I think Aaron has the potential to be the next great one he just hast to fill out some, but he passes the "looks" test.

Spring practice moves on. Name a Nittany Lion who is playing out of position in your opinion.

Lydell Sargeant has been moved around and has never found himself a home. We all had high hopes for him coming out of high school but the coaches have moved him to WR and then to CB and he hasn't done well at either position. Now he's buried behind some taller and faster corners and probably won't get to see the light of day. They should, at the very least, redshirt him this year and hope to find him a spot next season.

So far in recruiting we've offered eight linebackers and two running backs. It's almost mid April and we don't have a verbal commitment yet. Is it time to hit the panic button?

Nah. I never hit the panic button when it comes to recruiting you just never know. Give it some time; there are still plenty of good kids out there that haven't been offered yet. I think Penn State will make a late push for some really good talent because a lot of these kids are bombarded right now and they will think things through when the season starts. Let's get some kids up here on official visits to the Notre Dame game and let the chips fall where they may.

On his radio show, Don Imus called the Rutgers women's basketball team a bunch of "nappy-headed hos". Your reaction?

I just love that pic; it makes me laugh every time I see it. Don't ask me why I guess it's my sick sense of humor. Seriously – it was in very poor taste coming from a guy that spews poor taste, was anyone seriously shocked? I really can't believe the reaction this thing has received, Michael Richard's N-bomb tirade got lest scrutiny. I'm just amazed at how sensitive our country has become, is this really the environment I have to raise kids in? When did we become so thin skinned? He said nappy-headed hos… is that really that horrible? You'd swear the guy bit off the head of a puppy and had sex with a prostitute on the air. Yes it was offensive, especially if you are a Rutgers player, but wow… what a commotion.

Lightning Round

Which out of conference opponent would you most like to see PSU play down the road?

My list from yesterday is a good start.

Ever have to defend your lady in a fight?

Ah… define fight. I had some dude in a bar trying to dance with her, which is ok in my book, it's her decision to choose him over me, then he turned to me and gave me some shit so I had to push his little ass across the floor. Since I was bigger than him he stared me down gave me some shit and nothing more came about it. That's the closest I've come to fighting over a girl – I've never had anyone say any shit about my lady… yet.

Have you ever got your ass kicked in a fight?

No, but then again, I haven't been in too many fights. Most of my altercations have been guys talking trash and not backing it up.

There you have it, stop by Black Shoe Diaries and Run Up The Score for their answers and as always, leave your ideas in the comment section below – have you joined the State College Fight club??
