Rutgers to BCS: Suck my ass!

Sometime late last night a typical 28 yard field goal sailed perfectly through the uprights at Rutgers Field in Piscataway, N.J putting an end to a very un-typical game. Down at one point 25-7, the Scarlet Knights battled back and held the high powered Louisville offense scoreless in the second half to upset the third ranked team in the nation. Literally, and with no argument from anybody, this was the biggest win in Rutgers football history. After impressive wins over Miami and West Virginia, Loiusville was seen as the heavy favorite coming into this game and they jumped out to an early lead. But Rutgers never gave up and chipped away at the lead with help from their kicker Jeremy Ito who made 46 and 28 yard field goals in the 4th; the only scoring in that quarter. It wasn’t easy for Ito - Rutgers drove 80 yards on 11 plays with the scored tied 25-25 to set up the winning field goal but Ito missed. Fortunately for Rutgers, Louisville was offsides giving Ito his second chance, and he made it.

How big was it? Think about this: the highest ranked opponent Rutgers previously beat was then 15th ranked Penn State in 1988. Yeah I know that stings a little but you have to be happy for this ultimate underdog. Not only was it a big win for the Scarlet Knights but it was a big win for the BCS haters out there. That loud crashing sound you heard last night was the hopes and dreams of the BCS commissioners crashing down like an ill-funded Chinese Satellite struggling to leave the earth’s atmosphere, powered by whistling bottle rockets. Here’s an artist’s rendition…

If we look at the BCS standings now there are a whole lotta one loss teams sitting under #1 and #2, one of which will join them next week. Complete chaos wrapped in confusion, covered in controversy is soon to follow.

Sit back my friends and watch the stunning expose of money hungry suits wiggle and squirm as one loss teams finish out their season with the battle cry: “why not us!?” Defending Saddam Hussein was easier then defending this mess.

The B10 has a chance for 3 BCS teams especially if Michigan beats OSU. If that is the case, who do you leave out, OSU or Wisconsin, both would have one loss to a #1 Michigan

That's a very good question Anon, I'll add it to our Penn State roundtable next week. Check back in on Wednesday.
