We know how you feel

Auburn is 5-0, ranked third behind Ohio State and USC and on the outside of the national championship looking in. With five teams ranked in the top 13, the SEC seems to be the toughest conference and the most difficult road to an undefeated season. Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville understandably isn’t very happy with the current BCS system.
"I've about had it with this playoff deal," Tuberville said. “There is no reason on this earth why we can't have the best four and then play one more…That's the legitimate thing to do. We added a BCS game -- for what in the world? -- I understand we're avoiding lawsuits and making money. But let's take care of the players."

The Big Ten and the Pac Ten have a huge advantage over the rest of the conferences because of no championship game. That’s one less tough game for each conference champ and makes it that much easier for a team in those conferences to go undefeated. I have yet to find a college football fan that thinks the current system works, even though I know of a couple that don’t want to have a playoff; no one likes the BCS. Let’s face it, college football is set up for everyone to make money, not to crown a champion.
"Presidents take the money and go spend it, but they don't worry about the business of making it better," Tuberville said. "They keep coming up with excuses, yet we're playing [the national championship game] Jan. 8. It's hypocritical."

College football would be the best sport in the world if it were not for the crappy system used to determine the championship. Penn State has been screwed by the system so many times most Nittany Lion fans are numb to it. The best system would be an 8 team playoff which would almost guarantee that the best team in the nation is crowned champ, but at this point, I would just settle for a 4 team playoff. As for the academic argument, Tuberville said it best…
“…you have presidents that for some reason look at it more as for the money than having a national championship on the field. They keep coming up with lame excuses about academics. Football players miss fewer classes than anybody."
Lame indeed, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves Tommy, we know how you feel.
