Morning roundup

PSU’s first opponent picked to top MAC

Akron and Northern Illinois were overwhelmingly picked to make it back to the MAC championship by a poll of the conference's preseason media released Monday. Akron and NIU played in a thrilling 31 – 30 championship game last year when Akron QB hit Domenik Hixon with 10 seconds to play for the win.

Full moon or approaching football season?

Players must be getting antsy by the look of the police reports as of late. Texas Tech defensive back Anthony Hines was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight at a night club, and Arkansas SEC freshman of the year running back Darren McFadden, had surgery Saturday morning for a dislocated toe; after police say he was involved in a fight outside a Little Rock club. It looks like McFadden won’t be around for Arkansas’ opener against USC – ouch.
